Michael J. Moore, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, announces that Imad Ata Sihwail, age 35, a resident of Wauchula, Florida, was sentenced for bank robbery on March 26, 2012 before Senior United States Judge Hugh Lawson.
Sihwail pled guilty to robbing the First Community Bank in Tifton, Georgia; the Wachovia Bank in Pooler, Georgia; and the Bank of America in Bluffton, South Carolina, in violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 2113(a), bank robbery.
During the sentencing hearing, Sihwail was sentenced to 230 months’ imprisonment, to be followed by three years’ supervised release, and a $300 mandatory assessment fee. Restitution was ordered in the amount of $3,092 to the Wachovia Bank in Pooler, Georgia and restitution was also ordered in the amount of $3,179 to the Bank of America in Tifton, Georgia. The First Community Bank in Bluffton, South Carolina recovered all the money stolen from it at the time of Shiwail’s arrest. There is no parole in the federal system.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in both Georgia and South Carolina. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney, Michael K. Dennard.
