Eagle Butte Man Sentenced to 24 Months for Sexual Contact

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that an Eagle Butte man charged with two counts of sexual contact was sentenced on April 16, 2012 by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Daniel Leonard Red Horse, Jr., age 41, was sentenced to 24 months in custody, five years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Daniel Leonard Red Horse, Jr. was indicted for sexual contact by a federal grand jury on November 8, 2011. The conviction is the result of a victim’s disclosure that she had been sexually abused by Daniel Red Horse in 2009. Red Horse pled guilty to one count of sexual contact on November 19, 2012.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Jay Miller prosecuted the case.

Red Horse was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshals Service to begin serving his sentence.
