Edward Wingo, 37, of Fairview Heights,
Ill. — was sentenced in federal district court in East St. Louis on May 21,
2012, to 57 months’ imprisonment on the charge of Felon in Possession of a
Firearm, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen
R. Wigginton, announced today. Wingo was also ordered to serve 3 years’
supervised release, fined $200, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment.
“Making sure that illegally–possessed
guns, and the persons who possess them, are taken off of our streets is a
priority for both the Department of Justice and my office,” noted United States
Attorney Wigginton.
The case was investigated by the
Illinois Department of Corrections and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms
and Explosives. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney
Deirdre A. Durborow.
