Vida G. Bottom Named Special Agent in Charge of Honolulu Division


Director Robert S. Mueller, III has named Vida G. Bottom the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Honolulu Field Office. She most recently served as chief of the Public Corruption/Civil Rights Section at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. In this role, Ms. Bottom was also responsible for the International Corruption, Government Fraud, and Asset Forfeiture and Money Laundering programs.

Ms. Bottom entered on duty as a special agent in 1989 and was assigned to the San Diego Division, where she worked white-collar crime, organized crime, and violent street gang cases. In 1998, she transferred to the San Francisco Division and investigated government fraud and anti-trust violations. Ms. Bottom became a supervisory special agent in the Government Fraud/Public Corruption Unit at FBI Headquarters in 2001.

From 2003 to 2004, Ms. Bottom was assigned to the Counterterrorism Division and worked extraterritorial terrorism cases. In 2004, she returned to the San Francisco Division and led a Public Corruption/Government Fraud/Civil Rights squad.

Ms. Bottom was promoted to assistant special agent in charge in the Los Angeles Division and managed the White-Collar Crime, Public Corruption, Forensic Accounting, and Victim Assistance programs from 2009 to 2010.

She has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.
