BOSTON—A Taunton man was charged today
in federal court with sexual exploitation of a child.
David McLellan, 29, was charged in a
criminal complaint with production of child pornography. The criminal complaint
alleges that on or about January 29, 2009, McLellan used a minor to engage in
sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of
the conduct.
If convicted, McLellan faces at least 15
years and up to 30 years in prison, to be followed by up to lifetime supervised
release and a $250,000 fine.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz
and Richard DesLauriers, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of
Investigation-Boston Division, made the announcement today. The case is being
prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael I. Yoon of Ortiz’s Major Crimes
Unit.
In 2006, the Department of Justice
created Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect
children from exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices,
Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better
locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as

The details contained in the criminal
complaint are allegations. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and
until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
