U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrests Suspect Wanted for Sexual Assaults of a Minor

Harrisburg, PA – United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced today that the United States Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force arrested Darlene Lugo, a 31-year old woman, in Lancaster, PA.

In August, 2013, the York City Police Department began investigating allegations that Lugo committed sexual offenses against minors in York County, Pennsylvania. On December 19, an arrest warrant was issued by Magisterial District Judge Barbara Nixon, charging Lugo with the following offenses:

2 Counts - Criminal Solicitation – Rape of Child
Counts - Criminal Solicitation - Incest
2 Counts - Corruption of Minors
2 Counts - Corruption of Minors – Defendant Age 18 or Above

On January 6, 2014, the York City Police Department requested assistance of the USMS Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania to locate and apprehend Lugo.

Fugitive Task Force members developed information that Lugo may have fled to the Lancaster area. An investigative lead was sent to U.S. Marshals in Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

On January 7, Lugo was arrested without incident in the 500 block of Howard Ave in Lancaster. She was transported to the York County Prison, and turned over to local authorities for processing pending further judicial proceedings.

United States Marshal Pane stated, “It is the duty and responsibility of the U.S. Marshals Service to arrest fugitives wanted for crimes against children. Persons charged with these types of crimes are given the highest priority. This most recent arrest is a testament to the Task Force’s commitment to make our area communities more safe and secure.”

The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with officers from the York City Police Department, York County Sheriff’s Office, Pennsylvania State Police, and Lancaster City Police Department. Assistance was provided by USMS personnel and task force members from the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
The concept of all USMS-led fugitive task forces is to seek out and arrest the nation’s most dangerous offenders.
