Our sister agency, the Office for Victims of
Crime, is now accepting nominations for the 2016 National Crime Victims’
Service Awards, which recognize individuals, teams, programs and organizations
that demonstrate outstanding service in support of victims and victim services.
Every year, the award recipients are selected
from public nominations and honored at the National
Crime Victims’ Service Awards Ceremony held in Washington. Last year,
NIJ-sponsored researcher Dr. Rebecca Campbell was honored for her 25 years of
research on violence against women and children, with an emphasis on sexual
assault. Her research and partnership-based approach has helped the field
create the most effective, competent and appropriate responses to victims that
minimize trauma and revictimization. Her work has significantly improved the
nation’s understanding of sexual assault and has promoted victim-centered
responses.
