Organized Response to Mass Casualty/Active Shooter Incidents: Leading Practices From Ventura County, Calif.

On Friday, July 31, from 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern, Fire Capt. J. Scott Quirarte of the Ventura County Fire Department, a 25-year veteran and project lead for the Ventura County Interagency Active Shooter Task Force, will lead a free webinar to share lessons learned and best practices for dealing with mass casualty events. Ventura County created a task force including representatives from all of its emergency services departments in the wake of the Century Theater shooting in Aurora, Colo., and developed policies and a training program for a countywide response. To date, the task force has conducted more than 150 joint training sessions and trained more than 1,500 emergency responders.
