Organized Response to Mass Casualty/Active Shooter Incidents: Leading Practices From Ventura County, Calif.
On Friday, July 31, from 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern, Fire Capt. J. Scott Quirarte of the Ventura County Fire Department, a 25-year veteran and project lead for the Ventura County Interagency Active Shooter Task Force, will lead a free webinar to share lessons learned and best practices for dealing with mass casualty events. Ventura County created a task force including representatives from all of its emergency services departments in the wake of the Century Theater shooting in Aurora, Colo., and developed policies and a training program for a countywide response. To date, the task force has conducted more than 150 joint training sessions and trained more than 1,500 emergency responders. This webinar will discuss how the program was established, as well as roadblocks encountered and solutions for overcoming them.
