United States Attorney Ron Parsons announced that a
Bullhead, South Dakota, man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Child
Abuse and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
Rex Harrison, age 52, was indicted on May 14, 2019. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge
William D. Gerdes on May 29, 2019, and pled not guilty to the Indictment.
The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 10 years in
federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and $100
to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Restitution may also be ordered.
The Indictment alleges that on April 4, 2019, Harrison
abused, exposed, tortured, tormented, and cruelly punished minor children who
had not attained the age of 18, and further assaulted another individual with a
tire iron and a vehicle with the intent to do bodily harm.
The charges are merely accusations and Harrison is presumed
innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau
of Investigation. Assistant U.S.
Attorney Kirsten Jasper is prosecuting the case.
Harrison was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not been set.
