United States Attorney Erica H. MacDonald today announced
the sentencing of STEVEN MITCHELL GANT, 38, to 90 months in prison for
conspiring to distribute heroin on the White Earth Indian Reservation. GANT,
who pleaded guilty on January 16, 2019, was sentenced today before Senior Judge
Michael J. Davis in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
According to the defendant’s guilty plea and documents filed

Reservation and the surrounding communities. The heroin was obtained from a
source in Texas and then transported to Minnesota, where GANT acquired it. GANT
admitted to traveling to the White Earth Indian Reservation to sell heroin
approximately 25 times.
This case was the result of an investigation conducted by
the FBI Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force, the West Central Minnesota Drug
& Violent Crimes Task Force, the White Earth Police Department, and the Becker
County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Deidre Y. Aanstad prosecuted the
case.
