A seven-count indictment was unsealed charging a Canton man
with using a firearm to traffic heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamine and crack
cocaine.
Jack Dale Mitchell, 43, was indicted on two counts of
possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, two counts of possession
with intent to distribute fentanyl, one count of possession with intent to
distribute heroin, one count of possession with intent to distribute crack
cocaine and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug
trafficking.
Mitchell possessed the aforementioned drugs on February 12,
as well as a Ruger 9 mm pistol, according to the indictment.
If convicted, the defendant’s sentence will be determined by
the Court after review of factors unique to this case, including the
defendant’s prior criminal records, if any, the defendant’s role in the offense
and the characteristics of the violations.
In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and, in
most cases, it will be less than the maximum.
This case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation, Canton Police Department, Canton Police Department Special
Investigations Unit and the Stark County Metro Narcotics Unit, which includes
the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson Township Police Department and
Canton Police Department. It is being
prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron P. Howell.
