WILKES-BARRE - The United States Attorney’s Office for the
Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Johnny Fletcher, age 41,
formerly of South Carolina and currently an inmate at the United States
Penitentiary Canaan, pleaded guilty on June 12, 2019, before Senior U.S.
District Court Judge A. Richard Caputo, to assault on a correctional officer
and was immediately sentenced to serve an additional 15 months in prison.
According to United States Attorney David J. Freed, Fletcher
admitted to punching a correctional officer on February 5, 2019, after Fletcher
set off a metal detector and refused to submit to a search by the correctional
officer.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation and the Bureau of Prisons Special Investigative Service. Assistant United States Attorney Robert J.
O’Hara prosecuted the case.
