The EMPOWER Program is one of two rigorous, multi-year demonstration projects funded the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) to prevent the abuse, neglect and financial exploitation of older adults who are at risk for mistreatment. Presenters will describe how the program was developed in collaboration with NIJ and expert advisers, pretest implementation findings and plans for a large-scale, randomized controlled pilot study. This event aims to help researchers and practitioners considering similar partnership efforts focused on elder abuse or other victimizations, as well as teams working on phased evaluation demonstrations.
