United States Attorney Ron Parsons announced that a Mission,
South Dakota, man convicted of Abusive Sexual Contact was sentenced on June 17,
2019, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange.
Iran Small Bear, a/k/a Ivan Small Bear, age 38, was
sentenced to 48 months in federal prison, followed by 5 years of supervised
release, and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the
amount of $200.
Small Bear was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 12,
2018. He pled guilty on March 18, 2019.
The conviction stemmed from conduct that occurred between
July 2016 and April 2018, wherein Small Bear engaged in sexual contact with a
minor female.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation and the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson
prosecuted the case.
Small Bear was immediately turned over to the custody of the
U.S. Marshals Service.
