February 18, 2010 - INDIANAPOLIS—Kileb E. Denderth, 32, an inmate with the Bureau of Prisons, was indicted by a federal grand jury today for two counts of aggravated assault on a federal officer, following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Prisons.
The indictment alleges that Denderth assaulted two correctional officers at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana, on September 11, 2009, resulting in bodily injury to each of the officers.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney James M. Warden, who is prosecuting the case for the government, Denderth faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count. An initial hearing will be scheduled before a U.S. Magistrate Judge.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
