The Oregon Financial Institutions Security Task Force (FIST) is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the man responsible for an armed bank robbery on Monday, January 31, 2011 . The suspect displayed a handgun inside the Chase Bank located at 630 Center Street NE in Salem . When a customer attempted to follow the suspect outside the bank, the robber fired one shot at him. No one was hurt.
Witnesses describe the man as:
Race: White
Age: 30-40 years old
Height: 5’8”-5’10”
Weight/Build: Stocky
Clothing: Black jacket, blue jeans, black gloves, a GAP baseball cap, and a black mask covering his nose and mouth
The man may have used an older model, dark grey Ford SUV (possibly either an Explorer or Escape) as his getaway vehicle. The plates, possibly from out-of-state, may read something similar to “STX386.”
Investigators are looking at the possibility that this man is responsible for multiple bank robberies throughout the state. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI in Portland at (503) 224-4181 or the Salem Police Department at (503) 588-6123.
