St. Paul Man Indicted for Possessing Approximately 3,000 Images of Child Pornography

MINNEAPOLIS—Earlier today, a federal indictment was unsealed charging a St. Paul man for possessing approximately 3,000 images of child pornography. On May 11, 2011, Anthony Alex Munoz, age 37, was charged with one count of possession of child pornography. The indictment was unsealed following Munoz's initial appearance in federal court.

Munoz's indictment alleges that on July 26, 2007, he possessed images and videos featuring minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The items, which had been downloaded from the Internet, were found on computers seized during the execution of a search warrant at his residence.

If convicted, Munoz faces a potential maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. All sentences will be determined by a federal district court judge. This case is the result of an investigation by the Minnesota Cyber Crimes Task Force, which is sponsored by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Secret Service. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin S. Ueland.
