Local Man Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison for Transporting a Minor Across State Lines

ST. LOUIS—The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that Brent Woody was sentenced to 151 months in prison on charges of transporting a minor across state lines to engage in sexual activity.

According to court documents, Brent Woody was a local basketball coach who engaged in a sexual relationship with a minor female student. When she was 15 years old, Woody took her to his parent’s residence in Illinois with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

Woody, 29, of Creve Coeur, Missouri, pled guilty last October to one felony count of transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and appeared today for sentencing before United States District Judge Jean C. Hamilton.

This case was investigated by the Chesterfield Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Regional Computer Crimes Education and Enforcement Group (RCCEEG). Assistant United States Attorney Rob Livergood handled the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
