WICHITA, KS—A Rooks County man has been sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for cattle fraud, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today.
Frank D. Dix, 52, Woodston, Kansas, pleaded guilty to one count of making a false statement to a bank. In his plea, he admitted that in 2010 he provided a statement to the Stockton National Bank of Stockton, Kansas, falsely claiming to be in possession of 1,775 head of cattle. The cattle had been pledged as collateral on the bank’s loans to Dix. At the time Dix pleaded guilty, he still owed the bank approximately $452,477.
