FBI and San Diego Sheriff’s Department Arrest Imperial Beach Man for Serial Bank Robbery

February 12, 2010 - San Diego FBI Special Agent in Charge Keith Slotter announces the arrest of Alberto Alatorre, 34, of Imperial Beach, on bank robbery charges. Alatorre was arrested at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Oro Vista Drive in Imperial Beach on Wednesday, February 10, 2010. He was taken into custody by FBI Agents and San Diego Sheriff’s Department personnel. He is being held in the San Diego County Jail awaiting his arraignment which is scheduled for Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at the San Diego Superior Court.

Alatorre was arrested in connection with the following robberies:

November 6, 2009 – North Island Federal Credit Union, 1101 Palm Ave., Imperial Beach, CA

December 2, 2009 – North Island Federal Credit Union, 1101 Palm Ave., Imperial Beach, CA

February 5, 2010 – Wells Fargo, 826 3rd Avenue, Chula Vista, CA

Alatorre is alleged to have displayed a black semiautomatic handgun during the FIRST and THIRD robberies.

An arrest itself is not evidence that the defendant committed the crimes charged. The defendant is presumed innocent until the Government meets its burden in court of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
