February 10, 2010 - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, February 8, 2010, that Quan J. Britt, a resident of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty in federal court in Johnstown to violating federal narcotics laws.
Britt, age 33, pleaded guilty to two counts before United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson.
In connection with the guilty plea, Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie L. Haines advised the court that on October 30, 2008, Britt alone, and on January 12, 2009, Britt and a co-defendant distributed five grams or more of cocaine base commonly known as "crack" within 1,000 feet of a playground.
Judge Gibson scheduled sentencing for June 8, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 160 years' imprisonment and a fine of $8,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history of the defendant.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Laurel Highlands Resident Agency, Pennsylvania State Police, Johnstown Police Department, and Cambria County Drug Task Force conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Britt.
