Rapid City Man Guilty of Sexually Abusing a Minor

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Barry Joe White Face, age 21, of Rapid City, South Dakota, appeared before U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken on July 9, 2010, and pled guilty to an indictment that charged him with sexual abuse of a minor. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 15 years' imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. In December 2006 near Kyle, South Dakota, White Face engaged in sexual contact with a child under 16. The investigation was conducted by the FBI and DCI. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Carolyn G. Olson. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for September 27, 2010. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
