Sisseton-Area Man Charged with Making False Statements in Relation to the 2010 Disappearance of a Sisseton Man

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Sisseton-area man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for making false statements in relation to an investigation into the 2010 disappearance of a Sisseton man.

Michael Todd Never Misses A Shot, age 38, was indicted by a federal grand jury on April 4, 2012 for making a false statement. The indictment alleges that he made false statements to an FBI agent regarding the disappearance of Andrew Jon (AJ) Lufkins, who was last seen in Sisseton in April 2010. Since that date, county, tribal, state, and federal law enforcement officials have been involved in a joint investigation to determine Lufkins’ whereabouts and whether he was the victim of foul play. The investigation remains open, and anyone with information should contact law enforcement.

Never Misses A Shot appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge John E. Simko on April 10, 2012. The maximum penalty upon conviction is five years’ imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. The charge is merely an accusation, and Never Misses A Shot is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dennis R. Holmes is prosecuting the case. Never Misses A Shot was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service. A trial date has not yet been set.
