Lynchburg, Virginia Native Arrested in Greensboro, North Carolina by U.S. Marshals



Greensboro, NC – Wednesday morning at 10:30 AM, Jerry Alonzo Smith Jr., a 35 year old, Black Male, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) and the Greensboro Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT). The Commonwealth of Virginia in the City of Lynchburg issued a warrant for Smith charging him with Distribution of Heroin.

Interviews were conducted by the JFTF and investigators were led to the Avalon Trace Apartment Complex where Smith was observed outside of apartment 403-A. The JFTF surrounded the apartment and arrested Smith without incident.

Smith appeared in front of a Guilford County Magistrate and was given a bond of $85,000.

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Department of Community Corrections – Probation & Parole.
