Winston-Salem, NC – Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 PM, Rashad
Jamal Saunders, a 24 year old, Black Male, was arrested by members of the U.S.
Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) and the Winston-Salem Police
Department’s SWAT team. Saunders was wanted by the Winston-Salem Police
Department for Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill (three counts),
Assault by Pointing a Gun (three counts), Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied
Dwelling/Moving Vehicle (one count), Going Armed to the Terror of the Public
(one count). It is alleged that these charges stemmed from a May 4, 2014
shooting incident. Mr. Saunders was also served with an Order for Arrest for a
Failure to Appear on a Possession of Marijuana charge.
Investigators conducted surveillance in the neighborhood of
804 Salem Crest Lane. The JFTF observed a male subject matching the description
of Saunders outside the apartment complex. Mr. Saunders was positively
identified and taken into custody at the doorway of the residence.
JFTF transported Saunders to the Forsyth County Detention
Center where he received a $25,000 bond.
The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle
District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals
Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro
Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police
Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway
Patrol and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Department of
Community Corrections – Probation & Parole.
