CBP Officers Discover Marijuana at Douglas Port of Entry

Douglas, Arizona — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a drug smuggling attempt when they seized nearly 340 pounds of marijuana concealed inside a double floor of a Chevy Sonora.

On May 9th at about 7 p.m. CBP officers were screening traffic coming from Mexico. The officers selected a Mexican made 2000 Chevy truck for inspection. The vehicle was being driven by a 41-year-old man from Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico. With the assistance of a special trained K-9 team and high-tech tools, the officers discovered that the floor of the truck had been built up. The double floor concealed packages of marijuana. The total weight of marijuana was nearly 340 pounds with an estimated street value of $3 million.

CBP officers seized the vehicle and the marijuana. The man was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further questioning.
