South Side Bandit” Believed Responsible for Six Bank Robberies

May 19, 2010 - BOSTON—Law enforcement is releasing photographs and seeking the public’s assistance to help identify the individual(s) believed responsible for the following six bank robberies:

02/25/2010 @ 12:35 p.m.

Century Bank
31 Boylston Street
Newton, MA
04/02/2010 @ 10:55 a.m.

The Village Bank
89 Wyman Street
Newton, MA
04/26/2010 @ 10:27 a.m.

TD Bank
999 Worcester Street
Wellesley, MA
05/01/2010 @ 11:10 a.m.

Ocean Bank
76 Main Street
Plaistow, NH
05/14/2010 @ 2:00 p.m.

An unknown male entered each bank wearing a hooded jacket or a sweatshirt and brandished a large black handgun. He immediately ordered all customers to the floor and then ordered all tellers to give him the cash from their drawers. He made threats to shoot the tellers and the customers if they did not comply. After receiving cash, he fled the bank on foot in an unknown direction.

Witnesses describe the subject as:
Race/Gender: Light skinned black male
Age: Late 20s
Height: 5’8” to 5’11”
Weight: Medium build
Hair: Short brown
Misc: Covered face with a black scarf and wore gloves

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force at (617) 742-5533. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $15,000 leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) believed responsible for these robberies. Additionally, the Massachusetts Bankers Association Tip Program is offering a reward of up to $5,000.
