Champlain, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection today announced the seizure of approximately 29 pounds of Ecstasy found in an unclaimed duffel bag on a commercial bus.
During the early morning hours of May 10, CBP officers inspected a scheduled commercial bus arrival at the Champlain port of entry. After verifying the identity and itinerary of the bus passengers, CBP officers discovered an unclaimed bag left behind on the bus. Inside the bag were 21 vacuum-sealed bags of blue and tan tablets.
A field test of the tablets resulted in the positive identification of MDMA, or Ecstasy. An approximate total of 39,300 tablets were seized with an estimated street value of nearly $1 million.
The investigation continues as to the source of the narcotics.
