June 17, 2010 - PADUCAH, KY—A federal grand jury in Paducah returned an indictment on June 8, 2010, against Julie A. Garcia, age 43, of Deltona, Florida, on charges that she knowingly and willfully transmitted in interstate commerce telephone communications to a Kentucky State Police dispatcher, each of which contained threats to injure another person, United States Attorney David J. Hale of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.
The Indictment alleges that in six separate interstate telephone calls to a Kentucky State Police dispatcher, beginning on November 6, 2008, and ending on November 28, 2008, Garcia threatened to injure another person.
In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties for each Count are five years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of three years.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Sparks, and it was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Kentucky State Police.
The indictment of a person by a Grand Jury is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
