Serial Bank Robber Sentenced to 96 Months in Federal Prison

Defendant Robbed Five Branches of First Convenience Bank in Less Than Two Weeks

June 17, 2010 - DALLAS—Samuel Johns Dickey, 43, of Dallas, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Jorge A. Solis to 96 months (eight years) in federal prison and ordered to pay nearly $9000 in restitution for robbing five First Convenience Banks in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex between October 23 and November 4, 2009, announced U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas.

Dickey admitted committing the following bank robberies, all of which were located in WalMart stores:

October 25, 2009 First Convenience Bank
2275 Gus Thomasson Road, Dallas
October 27, 2009 First Convenience Bank
150 North Beckley, Lancaster, Texas
October 28, 2009 First Convenience Bank
200 U.S. Highway 80, Mesquite, Texas
November 4, 2009 First Convenience Bank
12300 Lake June Road, Balch Springs, Texas

Dickey was arrested on November 9, 2009, after a concerned citizen saw a wanted poster of the suspect and notified law enforcement.

The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John Kull.
