PITTSBURGH—A resident of Temple Hills,
Maryland has been sentenced in federal court to eight years in prison, to be
followed by five years’ supervised release, on his conviction of bank robbery
and armed bank robbery, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced
today.
United States District Judge Terrence F.
McVerry imposed the sentence on Allen Brown, 48, formerly of 4316 23rd Parkway,
Temple Hills, Maryland.
According to information presented
during the trial, which occurred in February of 2012, Brown and one other
individual robbed the S & T Bank located at 420 Armstrong Street in Ford
City, Pennsylvania, on October 1, 2007. The two robbers entered the bank while
brandishing pistols and wearing Halloween masks. When the robbers exited the bank
after the robbery, they stole an Armstrong County School District van from a
nearby lot and used it as a getaway vehicle.
Assistant United States Attorney Shaun
E. Sweeney prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the
Federal Bureau of Investigation and Pennsylvania State Police for the
investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Brown.
