Friends of Police Cycling Expedition

A team of 5 Friends of Police Volunteers have embarked on an all- India cycle expedition commencing from Chidambaram, Cuddalore District, Tamil nadu on 12th May 2010. The expedition is being flagged off by the Director of Friends of Police, Tamil Nadu, Dr, Prateep V. Philip I.P.S., IGP and Project Director, Rapporteur , PM's National Micromission on Community Policing.

The 5-member group will be covering 24 states and 86 District Head Quarters. They hope to cover a distance of 14,600 kms in 150 days. They hope to be back in Chidambaram on 23 september 2010.

The same FOP group consisting of 16 members (which included a constable) undertook a similar expedition in 2007, covering 2600 kms and ended up in Delhi. The objective was to create an awareness among people about:

* Social Justice & Human Rights
* National Integration
* Environmental Protection
* Eradication of HIV / AIDS
* Eye Donation
* Blood Donation

The present 5-member group proposes to create an awareness about the Friends of Police mission and campaigns specifically focussing on starting FOP student Units in colleges and institutions across the nation.
