“Doctor Bandit” Robs Sovereign Bank in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania

June 7, 2010 - The FBI and the Springfield Township Police Department are seeking the public's assistance to identify and locate the subject responsible for the robbery of the Sovereign Bank branch at 800 East Willow Grove Avenue in Wyndmoor, PA earlier today.

At approximately 3:50 p.m., the subject entered the bank and presented a threatening demand note to a teller. The note indicated that the subject was armed. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled the area of the bank on foot, last seen heading west on Willow Grove Avenue and then south on Flourtown Road.

The subject is described as a light-skinned black male, 6'0" tall, with a mustache, wearing a long white "doctor's" coat, a white scrub hat or hair net, a surgical mask over his chin, surgical scrub shirt and pants, rubber surgical gloves, a stethoscope around his neck, and dark sunglasses.

The same subject was spotted 15 minutes earlier at the Sovereign Bank branch located at 8623 Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia, in the same outfit, but left without conducting any business or interacting with anyone.

This subject is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 215-418-4000 or the Springfield Township Police Department at 215-836-1600. There may be a reward for information leading to this subject's capture, and tipsters can remain anonymous.
