McMurray Man Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison for Possessing Child Pornography

May 5, 2010 - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, May 4, 2010, that Aaron R. Martens, a resident of McMurray, Washington County, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to nine years and two months' imprisonment on his conviction of possession of child pornography.

United States District Judge Donetta W. Ambrose imposed the sentence on Martens, age 34.

According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Luke E. Dembosky, Martens possessed a portable electronic storage medium known as a flash drive, which contained images depicting a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The images and the materials used to produce them had been shipped and transported in interstate and foreign commerce. Martens has two prior convictions in military court, in 2001 and 2004, for child pornography-related offenses.

Mr. Cessar commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Martens.
