On July 26, 2011, the Stop.Think.Connect. Campaign announced its partnership with Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) America. “In today’s world, Americans can use technology to engage with communities around the globe,” said Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. “Now, more than ever, it is important that all Americans – adults and children alike – learn to protect themselves online and do their part to ensure that cyberspace is a safe and secure environment for all internet users.” Echoing Secretary Napolitano, D.A.R.E. Chief Executive Officer Charlie Parsons said, “We look forward to continuing to work with the Department of Homeland Security on these important efforts to keep our children and America safe.”
The partnership was announced while the Campaign participated in the D.A.R.E. International Training Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. The Campaign provided Stop.Think.Connect. Community Outreach Toolkits to all conference participants and trained D.A.R.E. officers to use the toolkits in their communities.
STOP.THINK.CONNECT. CAMPAIGN REACHES 10,000 FRIENDS
The Department of Homeland Security’s Stop.Think.Connect. Campaign is pleased to announce that the Friends of the Campaign Program has reached over 10,000 participants. Friends receive cyber tips, tools, and information from the Campaign via email as well as access to Campaign resources, including talking points, PowerPoint presentations, and the Stop.Think.Connect. Community Outreach Toolkit. Friends are a key component to the Campaign, as they promote cybersecurity awareness every day in their communities. We encourage Friends to share their accomplishments and best practices with the Campaign by sending an email to stopthinkconnect@dhs.gov.
