Investigators Seek Public’s Help in Solving Crime, Recovering Stolen Guns
ATLANTA – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Atlanta Field Division today announced a reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for a recent firearms theft at E Pawn Shop, a federally licensed gun dealer in Griffin, Ga. The incident has triggered a joint investigation, being conducted by ATF and the Griffin Police Department.
“We all have a vested interest in arresting those responsible and recovering these stolen firearms,” said Acting Special Agent in Charge Scott D. Sweetow ATF Atlanta Field Division. “It doesn’t matter if it is one firearm or one hundred, when firearms end up in the hands of criminals the propensity for violence increases exponentially. We are asking for the public’s assistance in removing these stolen firearms which threaten the community.”
The burglary occurred in the early morning hours on June 26, at the business located at, 1027 West Taylor Street, Griffin, GA 30223. Surveillance video of the burglary shows one black male wearing a dark colored t-shirt and dark shorts, and a white t-shirt wrapped around his head (face exposed). The suspect made entry by breaking a side glass door and subsequently opening the single cylinder lock on the inside of the door. Once inside, the suspect took two (2) handguns after smashing a glass case with a large brick, as well as a rifle and shotgun from a wall mounted display.
Investigators are seeking the public’s help with identifying the subject involved and providing information on the location of any or all of the stolen firearms.
