Border Patrol, Air and Marine Agents Rescue Illegal Alien

April 12, 2010 - Wellton, Ariz. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Yuma Sector rescued a severely dehydrated man near Tacna, Ariz. on Thursday.Border Patrol agents from the Wellton Station detected the entry of a group of illegal aliens about 15 miles south of Tacna at approximately 3 a.m. Agents tracked the group across Interstate 8 and apprehended three illegal aliens at the Tacna Motel. During questioning, the three subjects told agents that they had illegally entered the United States with three other people, but they had split up prior to being apprehended.

With help from Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine and the Border Patrol Search Trauma and Rescue team, Border Patrol agents located two of the remaining three illegal aliens a short time later. The two subjects told agents that there was still another individual in physical distress that was left behind.

Agents continued to search for the remaining subject and later found him lying under a tree displaying signs of heat exhaustion and dehydration. BORSTAR agents, fully trained and licensed Emergency Medical Technicians, rendered first aid to stabilize the subject. BORSTAR agents determined that advanced medical assistance was required and contacted Rural Metro who later arrived on scene to transport the individual to the Yuma Regional Medical Center.

All six subjects were transported to the Wellton Border Patrol Station and will be processed for removal.
