“Reckless Robber” is Back in Town

Suspected in Over a Dozen Area Bank Robberies

April 9, 2010 - The FBI Houston Bank Robbery Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the “Reckless Robber,” an aggressive armed bank robber believed responsible for more than a dozen Houston area bank robberies. “Reckless Robber” hit again today at the Wells Fargo Bank at 1442 Spring Cypress Road in Spring, Texas. “Reckless Robber” is suspected in recent bank robberies in Austin and San Antonio, but it appears he is now back in the Houston area.

At approximately 10:00 this morning, “Reckless Robber” entered the bank, loudly announced that he was committing a robbery, and produced a handgun. He approached the teller counter and threw down a red mesh bag, insisting that all the tellers put cash into the bag. He then placed the gun against the head of a bank employee, and continuously threatened to harm that employee until the bag was returned to him with the cash inside. He then exited the bank and was seen walking toward the rear of the building.

Witnesses describe the “Reckless Robber” as a Caucasian male, possibly Hispanic, 35-40 years old, 5’10” to 6’00” tall, stocky build, light to medium complexion, clean shaven, with short hair. He was wearing a blue short sleeved work shirt with a City of Houston patch on the chest pocket, dark pants, and sunglasses. He was carrying a black semi-automatic handgun.

Crime Stoppers is offering an enhanced reward of up to $10,000.00 for information leading to the charging and arrest of “Reckless Robber” or any felony suspect. If you have information about this bank robber, please call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 713-222-TIPS.
