April 1, 2010 - ST. LOUIS, MO—The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that Alan Collins has entered a guilty plea to multiple charges of production of child pornography.
On several occasions between February 2007 and February 2009, Collins videotaped a minor engaged in sexually explicit contact.
ALAN COLLINS, Wright City, Missouri, pleaded guilty to three felony counts of production of child pornography before United States District Judge Rodney W. Sippel. Sentencing has been set for June 9, 2010.
Each count carries a penalty range of 15 years to 30 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000, followed by supervised release for up to life.
These cases are brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. This case was investigated locally by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Robert Livergood is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
